About Us
Offering physiotherapy services across Norwich and the surrounding areas.
Our mission

After a number of years working for one of Norfolk's leading private physiotherapy practices, Grace established Progress Physiotherapy.
We aim to concentrate on an exclusive client list, bringing together a range of different experiences and expertise to offer a holistic approach to treating the whole person, not focussing just on an injury or condition.
We firmly believe that good communication and educating patients during the rehabilitation process, is the best way to optimise their recovery and to keep them active and uninjured in the future.

Grace Birchall's background in personal training and sports massage therapy, includes working with a variety of Norfolk men’s football teams, and supporting the Scotland national team at the European Dodgeball Championships before deciding to advance her training and complete her BSc in Physiotherapy, following her first degree in Psychology. After a number of years working for one of Norfolk's leading private physiotherapy practices, she established Progress Physiotherapy. It aims to concentrate on an exclusive patient list, bringing together a range of different experiences and expertise to offer a holistic approach to treating the whole person, not focussing solely on an injury or condition. Grace firmly believes that knowing her patients enhances communication and physical understanding of how patients' individual bodies move and function in the ways that are most important to them. Grace has years of experience working on a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, sporting injuries, complex lower limb injuries resulting from traumatic events and working with case managers within a multidisciplinary team. Outside of work, Grace is a keen Liverpool football fan, a veteran Norwich Academy football player, and she coaches and competes nationally in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She uses any remaining spare time to work on home renovations, under the careful supervision of her two German Shepherds.

Joe Cousens
BSc, MCSP, HCPC PH124691
Joe’s journey in physiotherapy is built on a strong foundation of elite sport and international coaching. Having played rugby at an elite level, he developed a first-hand understanding of performance, injury prevention and recovery. His passion for helping others progress led him to coach rugby overseas in Brazil and Australia, working with both youth groups and senior teams. Before studying physiotherapy, Joe qualified as a personal trainer, equipping him with the skills to guide clients of all abilities towards better strength, fitness and long-term health. He then completed his BSc in Physiotherapy at UEA, further enhancing his clinical expertise. Since graduating, Joe has worked at a leading private MSK clinic in Norwich, treating a wide range of musculoskeletal conditions, and gained specialist experience supporting neurological patients through tailored rehabilitation. This breadth of experience means Joe brings a well-rounded, patient-focused approach to his work — combining performance insight, hands-on clinical skills and a genuine commitment to helping people achieve their goals, whether that’s recovering from injury, improving mobility, or returning to the activities they love. Outside the clinic, Joe supports Wymondham Rugby Club on the sidelines and stays active himself through 5-a-side football and gym training.
