FAQs

Find answers to your physiotherapy questions and what to expect during your appointments.

  • What is physiotherapy?
Physiotherapy is a holistic healthcare profession which helps to restore movement and function to you when you have been affected by an injury, disability or illness. Physiotherapy can also help to reduce future risk of injury or illness.
  • What do Physiotherapist do?
Physiotherapy uses physical techniques to help treat medical conditions and injuries. Physiotherapists are registered healthcare practitioners trained in the structure and function of the human body and its movement. Physiotherapists can diagnose and treat a broad range of conditions.
  • What can I expect from my first physiotherapy session?
The first appointment will involve an initial in-depth discussion about your condition or injury. The physiotherapist will next spend time examining the way you move and assessing your specific area of concern. Once examined, a rehabilitation plan will be developed and discussed with you along with any treatment that is required.
  • What should I bring/wear to my first physiotherapy session?
Please bring or wear loose fitting clothing for your assessment. For issues concerning hips and legs, please bring or wear shorts. MRI or further imaging reports can be brought if they are relevant to your condition.
  • Are you professionally registered?
Yes! Grace is a member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (MCSP) and is governed by the Health and Care Professionals Council (HCPC).
  • How to I book an appointment?
Booking an appointment at Progress Physiotherapy is simple, you can book online right now through our online portal or you can request a call back by emailing grace@progressphysio.co.uk to book. Please be advised that emails are not checked over the weekend so for urgent booking we recommend booking online to secure a spot.
  • Do I need to be referred by my GP?
No! We are a self-referral physiotherapy practice which means you can secure an appointment with us anytime you want without needing to get hold of your GP first. Not sure whether physiotherapy is suitable for your condition? No problem, request a call back and find out. Physiotherapists are highly trained to assess and recognise when medical intervention is required instead of physiotherapy. In such cases we are able to write a referral straight to your GP, orthopaedic surgeon and more.
  • How much does it cost?
